Melksham Avon Open - 08/03/2010

7th March. 26 fished.

The last open of the season on the Bristol Avon in Melksham, was fished in bright but cold conditions. this ensured the fish were tightly shoaled and while the top 10 all had good weight many struggled. Top spot on the day was Richie Tomala with a great weight of 37lb 2oz of  chub. all taken on 6grm flat float at 14m to the far bank. Richie caught well in the first two hours and continued to pick the odd fish off until he had a small burst of fish in the last hour. Pushing him all the way was runner up Kevin Rowles who caught 32lb 4oz of roach and small chub. Kev fished the bread at 9m and added a few small chub on the waggler, putting a fish in the net almost every cast. 3rd was Steve 'stretch' Sauders. He drew one of the fancied top pegs at Sainsbury's, and caught 20lb 13oz of mainly roach on long rod.
