Ilminster AA - 08/03/2010

River Isle, Somerset.

Ilminster AA held the last match of the V.E.S. Precision Winter League on the Isle on Sunday. The river was very low and clear and wicked frosts for several nights previous hit the sport badly. Bob Hammond finally christened his pole and caught a nice bag of chub from the tank traps to win easily with 5lb 14oz. Malcolm Levy only needed a single chub of 2lb 2oz for second place from peg 22. The top section was won by Neil Dring with 1lb 15oz and Jamie Rich and Martin Heard tied for the bottom section with an ounce apiece.

League wise, Martin Heard had already won before today and Jamie Rich hung on to second place and despite not weighing in, Pete Lonton, stayed third. The club would like to thank V.E.S. Precision for their continued support and excellent sponsorship, Cindy and Steve at the Crown for looking after us all and Pete Lonton and Robin Cox for running the matches. The final match of the river season is next Sunday and the draw is at the Crown between 8:30 and 9:00.
