SPRO Saturday League final round Foss Dyke Canal - 11/03/2010
32 fished
Things were looking exciting for this final match with a number of anglers in a position to win what is becoming a very sought after trophy.
Finally the canal was looking in good condition after the awful winter that all anglers have had to contend with and i for one expected some fantastic sport from the massive numbers of perch and roach that are present in this canal but although it was looking good, the extremely cold nights mixed with bright days seemed to have put the fish off feeding. Despite the canal not fishing as well as expected there were still some fantastic returns. In first place was Grimsby angler Tim Goldby on peg 55 with 10lb 1oz, Tim did manage to get into some of the perch with the majority of his catch on lobworm. In second place and on next peg to the winner was Dynamite/Maver Barnsley rod Joe Carass who similarly to the winner took the majority of his catch on lobworm. His final weight of 8lb 2oz was good enough to fend off travelling partner Lee Kerry Preston/Maver Barnsley who drew peg 6 and his 7lb 7oz was taken mostly on bloodworm over joker.
