BW MAKINS WEDNESDAY KOBRA AFFORDABLE OPEN

In spite of heavy rain showers Lake 2 fished well for the BW Makins Wednesday Kobra Affordable Open, with pole anglers taking three of the top five places. Top weight fell to Long Eaton ace Luke Bamford with 196lb 2oz from peg A8. Luke fished pole at 13 metres with pellet on the deck and paste in the margins later for mainly good carp to around 13 lb, plus bream and roach.
In contrast, second placed angler, Hinckley’s Gaz Harper, fished Method feeder baited with corn for 94lb 13oz from Peg B11, as did Long Eaton based John Adamson (Kobra Feeders) for 93lb 9oz from peg A12.
Fourth placed Charlie Shaw (Dynamite Mayfair) fished pole with pellet shallow on peg A20 for 80 lb 4 oz, while Darren Weekes on Peg A6 caught on pole at 13 metres with pellet bait presented on the bottom.

Long Eaton’s Luke Bamford completed the double, following up his win on Wednesday with another superb display. Drawn on Peg 7, Luke was into fish from the start, fishing paste on the long pole, and continued to catch throughout the match. He included roach, chub, tench, crucian carp and bream in his mainly small carp catch of 86lb 7oz.
In contrast, runner up Danny Ross (Wykin AC) fished corn on long pole across and along the margins for his mainly carp catch of 57lb 6oz from Peg 15, while third-placed Charlie Shaw (Dynamite Mayfair) had a barbel catch of 39lb 9oz on meat from Peg 13.
