Enter the flagship 784! Like the 774, the 784 is plenty strong enough for UK match conditions. In short, that means it’s more than capable of sensible carp fishing on commercials, while still being a pleasure to hold at its full 16m length. The pole comes with a very generous spares package including four carp kits, two match top threes, two match top fours, a mini-extension, a mini 6/7 section, cupping kits, protective tubes and a Sensas Classic holdall. As far as top-of-the-range poles go this is one of the very best we’ve seen and compares very favourably with others in the same price bracket.

The Specimen 704 is the other new kid on the block in the Power Match series. With an SSP of just £549 it’s obviously not in the same league as the 784, which reflects its purpose as an out-and-out big-fish taming pole. It comes at 13 metres as standard with four carp kits, a cupping kit, protective tubes and pole bag. A growing trend with many anglers is to own a flagship pole for ‘best’ and back it up with a beefier model to call on whenever a bit more brute strength is needed. Being made on the same 700-series mandrel makes the 784 and 704 perfect partners as all of the sections and top kits will interchange if needed.

As with all Sensas poles there is a wealth of extra kits and sections available, too, from extra-strong Big Fish top three, four and five-section kits to featherweight Competition kits. The Joker Card Promise is another added bonus for your peace of mind – if you should break a pole section within 12 months of purchase Sensas will exchange it free of charge.

Overall, there is very little if anything to fault the 784 and 704 models. They both fulfil specific gaps in the market, with the added benefit of interchanging with each other too.

On their own, two great poles in their own right. Together, they make a perfect combination.
