LONG TERM TEST: Daiwa Tournament Luggage - 26/03/2009

I’ve been using this Tournament luggage for five years now, and despite carrying far too much gear in the holdalls and carryall at times it has never once let me down, unlike a lot of other luggage on the market that often falls apart after just a few months.

I use the double-compartment 12-tube holdall on venues where I need to carry a lot of tackle and the smaller six-tube holdall on river matches where I don’t need to carry so much gear. Both holdalls are long enough to carry long pole sections in and the side pockets are just the right length for my banksticks, quivertip tubes and brolly plus a couple of extra-wide pole roosts that are too wide for my carryall. My carryall has been subjected to a tremendous amount of abuse over the past five years yet a good wash down with a hosepipe and some hard work with a scrubbing brush keeps bringing it back as good as new. The main compartment holds plenty of bait and the large zipped side pocket is perfect for things like float tubes, smaller pole roosts and small banksticks and adaptors.

The large groundbait bowl is the best of its type that I’ve used, as it holds a big mix of several kilos and doesn’t collapse and fold up as the groundbait is being used up. This range of luggage has been very well designed, manufactured to last and is also exceptionally good value for money. My luggage takes a hammering over the course of a season, much more so than a lot of other anglers because of the venues that I fish, so for luggage to stand up to what I put it through it has to be good. This stuff is just that.
