Open matches across country and grand final will raise money for cancer research.
A brand new countrywide match series featuring 30 qualifiers before a grand final is fished has been announced to start next year.
Match Aid will see competitions held across England to raise money for cancer research. Open to all, the qualifiers will be hosted by such venues as Yorkshire’s Woodlands, Worcestershire’s Furnace Mill, Somerset’s Viaduct and Leicestershire’s Mallory Park.
Sponsored by Fosters of Birmingham, the competition will be fished across June 2013, the qualifiers seeing 60 anglers go through the contest a grand final in August at Furnace Mill Fishery.
“Match aid was formed to raise money for research into cancer, and whether its small or large, we want to make a difference,” said a spokesperson for the charity. “We’re hopeful that the competition can also bring the fishing community together, giving people a fantastic family day out while raising money for a really worth while cause.”
The qualifier dates dates so far are below, with each one seeing the top two anglers go through the the final and third and fourth place being held in reserve.

Mallory Park Fisheries Leicestershire qualifying date to be announced in December
Entry fees for each match will be £15 per angler, and anglers can enter any other qualifiers if they choose to. The entry fee will be split three ways, with £5 going to the fishery as a peg fee, £5 to the prize fund for the day and £5 will come back to match aid for the cancer research charity.
