England Juniors bag silver after great performance in World Champs competition.
England’s Junior team are celebrating a silver medal, following a solid team performance on Italy’s River Arno. In many respects, the four man team was unlucky not to take top spot, with three of them finishing in the top two of their seventeen peg sections. Unfortunately however, Ryan Watson drew in an extremely tough area in A section, from where he did well to muster tenth. Sadly this wasn’t enough to top Italy’s effort, with the host nation just nudging in front of England by three points.
The team made up Jake Dye, Alex Clements, Ryan Watson and Connor Barlow did well to adapt to what is a largely unfamiliar style of fishing, where they had to target carp and catfish on pole tactics, feeding sticky mag and gravel.
“I am delighted with how well the team have done, considering the two very average draws that we were given. All of these anglers have impressed me with their professionalism and enthusiasm, and have been a credit to their sport and their country” manager Steve Sanders said.
