Lincs took the title, and a cool £10k for their efforts.
Team take home £10k with a stunning performance in this year's final.
Lincolnshire have been crowned champions of this year’s Country Champs competition following a storming performance in the final that saw a total of 46 teams battle for victory.
The five-man team of Tony Evans (captain), Mick Stamps, Luke Morley, Paul Christie and Rob Morris fished across two venues to take the top spot, posting an unassailable 30points total – 29 points clear of second placed Lancashire – which saw them go home £10k better off.
Fishing Solihull’s Barston Lakes, both Paul and Rob did the team proud, taking two second in section results, while on Meriden’s Packington Somers Fishery the rest of the team battled hard for a 5th, 8th and 13th in their sections.
“We’d put a bit of time in to get the tactics right at Packington,” Lincs team member Mick Stamp told Match Fishing. “It fished very hard on the day, but we had some good pegs and the boys over on Barsto ndid a great job. It’s great to have won against such a strong field.”
Team results top five
1st Lincolnshire 30points
2nd Lancashire 59 points
3rd Berkshire 59 points
4th Cheshire 64 points
5th Sussex, 65 points
Individually the honors for the final match of the competition went to Somerset man Andy Powers.
Having already won £50k in the Maver Match This final earlier this year, Preston Innovations Thatchers angler Andy is on a role, taking home another £500 for his efforts in the County Champs that saw him land 61lb 4oz of carp and F1s from Barston to beat 225 other anglers and a closely packed top five.
