Double ton smashed at popular venue - in the middle of winter.
An amazing winter match weight of over 200lb has been landed at the latest competition at Hampshire’s Gold Valley Lakes.
Fishing a recent match at the venue, top angler Paul Holland beat off a field of 59 anglers, weighing in a total of 214lb 2oz to take the top spot – a staggering weight considering we are in the middle of January.
The big net, made up of 35 carp to double figures, came from peg 118 on the venue’s Syndicate Lake with all the fish falling for method feeder tactics.
Adding to the impressiveness of the catch at this time of year, Paul’s weight more than doubled that of the nearest competitor – High Wycombe’s Maurice Woodley who weighed in 89lb 5oz.
