Massive competition will now be more than just a winner takes all final.
The much-anticipated second Maver Match This competition has already made headlines with the possibility of a £100k first prize for one lucky angler, but now further changes have been made to the competition offering the biggest prize pot in the history of the sport.
This year’s final will no longer be a ‘winner takes all’ event as it was last year. Instead Maver has announced that there will also be cash prizes for both the second and the third placed anglers on the day, with amounts of £5k for second and £3k potentially up for grabs.
“We’ve taken on board all comments following the 2011 final, but soon came across the same constructive criticism from a broad range of anglers who were of the opinion that this year’s competition would be even better if a structured payout was implemented,” said Maver UK Managing Director Phil Briscoe.
“In light of this general consensus, we at Maver feel it only fair to respond to this request and provide yet more incentive for anglers to enter this prestigious event in 2012. By offering anglers a greater opportunity to walk away from this year’s final with a considerable financial reward we hope the competition will appeal to more anglers and ensure the event is even bigger and better this year”.
The news follows changes to the final event’s format, which for 2012 will now see a team champs event replace the £5k runners up event run after the main final. Click here for the full story.
