Preston Innovations man dominates canal match, again.
Welsh international Lee Edwards has recorded his second, impressive, match-winning weight on the Kennet & Avon canal in under a month.
Competing in the semi final of the Angling Trust Winter League second Southern semi final, the Preston Innovations backed ace fought off 89 other anglers to take victory with a weight of 37lb 5oz from the natural venue.
The weight is almost identical to that taken in a practice match on the same stretch of the Kennet and Avon just a few weeks ago, with Lee’s winning tactics being bloodworm on pole.
Having drawn an end peg, Lee used the approach to net skimmers and bream to 3lb, with his efforts being more than enough to comfotably comfortably beat second-placed angler Nick Chedzoy of Preston Innovations Thatchers who posted 21lb 13oz, also fishing bloodworm on the pole.
Overall action on the waterway at Marlborough, Wiltshire was slow to start with, but by the end it had more than picked up, providing an impressive average weight of 7lb, with the top 22 anglers weighing in over 10lb each.
Team wise the event saw the might Daiwa Dorking go through to the final with a 17point lead over their closest rivals, Maver Image. The team put in a stunning performance, with no less than four section wins and not one of their anglers coming in below fourth in a section.
