Warren helps team to top spot in southern Winter League semi.
The second of the southern Angling Trust Winter League Semi finals saw an on form Kamasan Starlet team dominate proceedings on the Gloucester canal.
Despite difficult conditions with plunging temperatures knocking the silver fish sport, the Starlets managed to fend off Daiwa Gordon League as they snapped at their heels with bags of skimmers and bream.
The victory came in no small part thanks to the efforts of Starlet’s Ed Warren who dazzled with an impressive canal weight of 30lb 5oz. The Preston Innovations back ace fished feeder for the opening few hours of the competition to take an early bream, but after things went quiet he moved over to the pole and bloodworm at 14metres. The change in tactics paid off, with Ed bagging nine bream to 4lb and an eel giving the angler the top spot.
Just over 4lb behind Ed was Fox Match Arun’s Gary Fuller, who fished peg 43 of the stretch to net 25lb 10oz of bream on the feeder. Third place was taken by DGL’s Mark Brush with 25lb 7oz.
