Lee Taylor has bagged himself a place in the prestigious Barston Masters following a win in this weekend’s competition at the midlands venue.
Faced with a hard-fishing water, thanks to temperatures of just 2degrees in the morning, the Greys and Bag’em Matchbaits-backed angler worked hard from peg 18 for a total of 71lb 12oz to beat a field of 79 other anglers.
Employing the method feeder to great affect, Lee fished at around 70yards range using Bag'ems Commercial carp Groundbat and Bag'ems Fluro Pop ups. A 30grm feeder punched out by the new Hardy Marksman Supero 12ft distance feeder rod.
The first fish came after 45 minutes before bigger specimens of up to 12lb turned up, and in a slick display the final numbers in the net totaled nine proper carp and eight F1s.
Painfully close behind in second place was Browning’s Chris Glover who posted a weight of 71lb 8oz – just 4oz from Lee. Chris caught well from the off, putting together a net of F1s and carp to 12lb on the method feeder.
Third place went to Gregg Norris who also fished the method at range to weigh in 65lb 12oz and a place through to the final in September
The result sees Lee go through to the final of the Greys Prodigy, Bag'em Matchbaits and Mick Wilkinson Floats sponsored competition, along with all other section winners from the day.
