Garbolino man posts perfect points total to continued squads winning streak.
An England international and boss of one of the best known angling brands in the UK has continued a storming run of success for his company’s stable of anglers after taking victory in the latest White Acres Festival.
Darren Cox, MD of Garbolino UK, took the top spot in the Milo Festival held at the Devon fishery last week, posting a perfect 36point score over the five-day event.
Taking on some of the best anglers in the country, Darren posted four section wins (only an angler’s four best days count meaning his second in section on day two wasn’t counted), weighing in the heaviest catch out of the entire competition at 163lb 7oz and finally winning to collect a cheque for £3910.
“The weather wasn’t brilliant but it was a great festival and I thoroughly enjoyed it,” said Darren who continues a run by Garbolino anglers that has seen them win every single White Acres spring festival so far, told Match Fishing. “I also won two days outright and to catch the biggest weight for the whole festival was the icing on the cake.”
Closest to beating Darren was another England international, Preston Innovations backed Adam Wakelin who also posted a perfect 36point score, but dropped 7points for a third in section to Darren’s dropped 8points.
Darren’s big weight was caught on the fourth day, with the experienced international fishing Twin Oaks from peg 14 using pellet waggler and 8mm expander to amass the impressive haul.
