Lake View sees Stockton on Tees angler tops qualifier to make final.
The fifth finalist for the Fish ‘O’ Mania 2012 final has been decided following a super tight qualifier at Leicestershire’s Lake View Fishery.
Just 3lb separated the top three anglers, but it was Simon Medd who snatch the coveted top spot, with the Stockton on Tees man posting a winning weight of 65lb 8oz.
On the scales this was enough to place the Cleveland Angling Centre angler just 2lb ahead of second placed Sean Huggins who weighed in 63lb 8oz. Sean, a veteran Fish ‘O’ competitor weighed in 63lb 8oz taken from Serpent's peg 1. And with a tantalisingly close 62lb 8oz, it was Drennan North West’s Ben Robert in third.
Simon Medd, who will now go through to compete for the £30k grand prize at Cudmore Fisheries this July, put together his winning weight on the venues Canal. Fishing from peg6, the Chemical Engineer started down the edge on pellet for 20lb of carp caught in the first half hour, before switching to similar tactics on the far bank to put together the total.
The next Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier heads to Peatling Pools at Leicestershire on Wednesday May 2.
