Popular festival set to be bigger and better for 2012.
Organisers of the hugely popular Burton Angling Festival on have announced the date of this year’s event which promises to be bigger than ever.
Now in its fifth year, the river Trent based festival will take place over three days in September, Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 with organisers hopeful of growing further on the success of last year’s event.
“Last year’s competition was a huge success, with all 60 pegs selling out,” said a festival organiser. “We’re hoping to expand the competition this year with more pegs. Our major sponsors Coors and Shakespeare look to be on board again and Wovencrest and Bait-tech have again pledged prizes. And this year Drennan International has joined the party providing goody bags specifically designed for river anglers.
As usual the competition will be fished on the river Trent at the Coors waters run by Burton and the Derby Railway AC waters at Shardlow. Headquarters are at the Washlands Sports Club on Bass Island at Burton.
Preceding the 2012 festival there will be three open matches, which take in the festival waters giving everyone a good preview of the venues.
