Andy May takes a comprehensive victory to go through to big money final.
Top match angler Andy May has become the eighth angler to qualifier for this year’s Maver Match this final and the chance to win a life-changing amount of money.
The MAP-backed rod fished the latest qualifier at Cheshire’s Partridge Lakes Fishery taking a comprehensive victory. Fishing from peg two on the venue’s Pine Lake, Andy weighed in a 114lb 2oz total – an impressive 38lb heavier than the second-placed Kerry Kirkwood who also fished Pine Lake.
“It all went well on the day,” Andy told Match Fishing. “For the first hour and a half I fished the method which gave me around 40lb of fish. I also feed a caster line at 14m and after switching to that the fish came fairly consistently for the rest of the match.”
The bulk of Andy’s weight came from F1 carp with a small number of chub also caught.
Andy will now go through to the £100k final being held at Larford Lakes in September. A further 16 finalist places are still to be decided at qualifiers up and down the country across the summer.
