Marc Rodger is the early leader in the Preston Innovations UK Individual Championship after bagging a massive 76.96kg haul at Lindholme Lakes.
Round One of this prestigious 80-angler event got off to a brilliant start at the South Yorkshire Mecca with big weights throughout the complex. Four lakes were used with the top three coming off Laurels, Oasis and Willows as the event turned into a fish-catching spectacle.
The early leader is Marc Rodger who bagged over 100 F1s at 13 and 14 metres with pellets fished shallow from Peg 4 on Laurels. The Grimsby-based angler fed 4mms and fished both 4mm and 6mm pellets on the hook. Most of the fish came quite deep in the water and a long line above the float was best on the day.
Just behind in second place was commercial master Steve Ringer. Drawn on Oasis Peg 20 he used his favourite meat tactics fished tight to the far bank in the shallowest water to amass 71kg exactly.
Third was local expert Sean Cameron who fished worms shallow at six and 10 metres as well as meat down the edge on Peg 14 on Willows.
The next round is at Somerset's big-carp water, Viaduct Fishery, on 11th July.
