Reigning UK Champ qualifies for Maver's big money final.
Jason Le Bosquet has qualified for this year’s Maver Match This final following victory at this weekend’s qualifier event at The Oaks Lakes, Thirsk.
Beating a field of 56 anglers, the Garbolino-backed angler and current reigning UK Angling Champ drew peg 1 on the North Yorkshire venue’s Beech pool to take 101lb 13oz.
The majority of Jason’s winning bag was carp was caught on pellet and maggot down the edge at 5meters with more to 2lb taken at 11meters.
Jason's winning bag was 4lb over that of second-placed angler Chris Hall who took 97lb 14oz from peg2 on Cedar. Chris had a storming second half to his match after catching around 15lb before switching to the margins at 4m fishing pellet over groundbait to take proper carp up to 12lbs boosting his final weight. It was a performance that won the angler a spot on the Maver British Pole Champs.
Andy Bennett finished third with 84-08-00 from peg 4 on Ash. Andy started his match on the method feeder, but took just six fish in the opening hour. Andy then switched his attention to the margins and fished pellet and maggot at 6m and caught well for the rest of the match with fish up to 2lbs.
Close behind for fourth was Preston Innovation's Lee Kerry who fished peg 29 on Sycamore. Lee finished with 82-08-00 and would have qualified for the British Pole Championships, but has already done so during a previous qualifier. As such, sixth placed angler Phil Ashown did enough with his 76-10-00 catch from peg 13 on Ash.
