3rd June 2012 - Sydney, Australia Number of pegs/anglers: 17
Report: Seventeen anglers turned out for the first leg of the NSW SCAC Winter league last weekend at Hawkesbury racetrack’s lake. The weather kept in line with the seasonal change and once again Sydney had a deluge of rain and a drop in temps the day before the match. The usually unfancied deep water pegs at the dam end of the venue produced the top weights today as those in the shallow end struggled for most of the match to put a few fish together. Howard “golden Oldie” Hill showed the club’s younger anglers how it’s done and won today’s match with 31 kg catching small carp and goldfish from the start on the pole at 8 mt on punched bread or corn. It turned out to be a full “veterans” day with the top 3 results all coming from the dam wall pegs to the club’s oldest anglers. We are told the total weight from today’s match; 150 kg is still far short of the top three anglers’ combined age total.
Top 5 anglers and weights: 1: Howard Hill Weight: 31.18 kg 2: Jay Owen Weight: 19.06 kg 3: Ron Waits Weight: 17.50 kg 4: Dara Finnegan Weight: 17.14 kg 5: Richard Brown Weight: 10.96 kg
