2013 World Championship gets underway.
The 2013 world Freshwater Angling Championship has just got underway on the Żerański Channel in Warsaw, Poland (pictured on the gallery below), with anglers now balling in their initial bombardment of groundbait. Fishing will begin at 9.30, and finish at 1.30. Reporters at the venue tell us that England's managers, Mark Downes and Mark Addy are happy with the draw.

Des Shipp has drawn in A section, Steve Hemingray in B, Will Raison in C, Alan Scotthorne in D and Sean Ashby in E.The channel looks like it is carrying a bit of extra colour after yesterday's rain, but no extra pace.

Co manager, Mark Addy said: "I am quietly confident that England have a good chance of success here in Poland. There are several nations who will be tough to beat, including Poland, France, Italy and Belgium - but we are more than capable of delivering the goods."

Check back in half an hour for our first update of how the team is performing.
