Events leading up to this latest qualifier took an unexpected turn after it was confirmed that The Glebe, who were originally scheduled to host the event, had some issues with a number of the lakes on site meaning the qualifier had to be moved at very short notice. Unfortunately, this meant that a number of anglers dropped out and chose not to fish at Barston instead, which resulted in the numbers being down on what was otherwise another sell out qualifier. That said, the fishing was close although the sport was not as prolific as the day before on the England ladies fundraiser event.

Winner on the day and making it through to the 2016 Mega Match This final was Welsh rod, Mark Jones (Tredegar AC). Mark drew peg 18 and fished a method feeder with micros offering boilie on the hook to tempt quality skimmers and carp up to 15lbs for a final weight of 120-10-00.

Jon Owen secured second place from fancied peg 124. Jon started his match fishing the pellet waggler before switching to the method to take carp up to 6lbs. At the end of the five hours, Jon weighed in 96-04-00, earning himself a place in this year's Maver British Pole Championship final.

Third on the day was previous Match This finalist, Ben Sharp. The young tackle shop assistant drew peg 6 and fished both a method feeder long at approx. 85 yards and bomb and pellet short at 25 yards to find carp up to 10lbs as well as F1s to end the match with 93-10-00.
