It’s no secret that feeder fishing is becoming hugely popular in the UK and Europe and it seems that more people are now looking at it as a year-round option for their fishing rather than just something to do in the warmer months. The problem is that on large expanses of water, like Kingsbury Water Park where we are today, the fishing can become difficult as the water cools – 100lb bags are rare and it soon becomes apparent that it’s the anglers who work hard that get the results.

We are well and truly moving toward an era of feeder fishing, and just like with pole fishing, niche feeder manufacturers are cropping up all over the place.
Having fished Ferry Meadows regularly earlier in the year I was looking for various feeders to have in my locker.
Rob Wootton had some rather nifty looking models in his feeder collection and I just had to find out more (not that Rob wanted me to know what they were!). Luckily I had a feature planned with Simon Willsmore and it just so happened that he had started to distribute the feeders throughout the UK.
Something For Everyone
This eight-strong range of rods comes in lengths between 10ft and 13ft and includes various casting weights. The rods range from a 10ft Ultra Light, ideal for small sh at close range, right up to the 13ft Heavy that is capable of launching 120g of feeder.

European Design
These rods have been designed in conjunction with Dutch international angler Arnout Van De Stadt and have European venues and styles in mind.
After five fantastic years on the River Wye, the final of the ever popular Angling Trust RiverFest competition will be moving to a new venue in 2018.
The big money event which sits as the pinnacle of the running water match fishing calendar, carries a £13,000 top prize from a final prize pot of almost £40,000!
RiverFest 2018 will culminate in a two day final on the Quarry and County Ground sections of the River Severn at Shrewsbury. There will be 24 qualifiers around the country from June, with three anglers going through from each to the 72 peg final.
Competition creator Dave Harrell said, “After discussions with many of the competitors and a lengthy meeting with the Angling Trust competitions team, we felt that the time was right for a change of final venue.

Today I have been back to Old Hough fisheries for the second round of my winter league and this time it was going to take place on boulders + goose which is somewhere that i have not fished for over twelve months so I was really looking forward to the contest especially after my good result in the first round , after yesterday's very blustery conditions I was glad to wake up and see it a lot calmer but with bright skies plus colderconditions it could make things a bit difficult although on these lakes you were targeting silver fish with the odd carp coming out .
On arrival to the fishery I meet up with the other anglers and a few of them had fished a couple of matches on these waters which would obviously give them an advantage but from what I heard there seemed to be a lot more carp showing than I thought, it soon came round to draw time and when I had a dip in the bag of doom pulling out peg 11 which I was pleased with as it was an area that I had fished before, doing well winning the match with nearly 50lb of ide although I was definitely on the colder side of the lake with the trees blocking out the sun.
I decided to set up ;
Two-foot rig for fishing tight to the far bank and I used a 0. 4 Md diamond float with a bulk plus dropper shotting pattern, my main line was the usual 014 garbo and hook length was six inch of 012 garbomy hook was a size 18 guru maggot hook.
