One hundred and sixteen (116) anglers attended this Sunday qualifier event held at Barston Lakes. Conditions on the day were ideal with a stiff breeze blowing towards the river bank coupled with plenty of cloud cover lasting for the duration of the match. That said, sport was a little slow for some with three anglers breaking the 100lb barrier with the resident carp appearing to have been affected by the impromptu thunderstorm the day before.

Next to qualify for next month’s big money final was Wayne Sharman (Matrix / Lanes Baits). Wayne drew peg 28 and fished a method feeder with micro pellets and a mini boilie on the hook at approximately sixty metres to find all carp up to 15lbs. At the end of the five hours, Wayne offered a superb 202-03-00 to the scales to confirm his place in this year's final in style beating the remainder of the field by over 50lbs.

Matt Culpin took runner-up spot from peg 124 with a weight of 150-03-00. Matt opted to fish bomb and pellet 'conker-style' with paste wrapped around an orange wafter presented at thirty metres to find bream, F1s and carp to 18lbs. Despite missing out on his place in the final, Matt automatically qualifies for the Maver British Pole Championship final later this month.

Third place on the day was Ray King from neighbouring peg 123. Ray fished a method feeder with micros whilst offering 8mm hard pellet on the hook at long range to find F1's and carp to 12lbs. Upon the scales making their way round, Ray confirmed 101-07-00 to book his place in this year's British Pole Championship final.

Andrew Crocker finished in fourth place from peg 19 with 98-08-00. Again, like many, Andrew fished a method feeder at range with micros and a wafter on the hook.

Rounding off the top five finish on the day was Dynamite Baits rod, Dan Hull. Dan drew peg 5 and fished a method feeder with 2mm meaty pellets offering an orange mini boilie on the hook at approximately eighty metres over to the bridge at the 18th hole. Dan found carp up to 10lbs to end the match with 89-06-00.
