Browning Z6 Pole
Alex Bones takes a look at the mid-price-range Xitan model that’s already receiving rave reviews!
Having tested Browning’s fantastic Xitan Z8 pole earlier in 2013 I expected great things of the less-expensive Z6 model.
It boasts many of the same features as the more expensive Z8, Z10 and flagship Z12 models, but comes in at just £999 for the standard 14.5m pole and package and £1,199 for the 16m setup!
It’s a pole based around strength, but without the usual unwieldy stigmas attached – by employing nanocarbon technology Browning has made this pole crisp and manageable. Boy, what a powerful punch it packs!
It’s always little details that make all the difference to the overall product and among many other features are the 2.6m long power kits, which Browning believes are the optimum length for landing fish. It would be fitting to mention that all of the kits supplied with this pole – three SLK puller power kits with the standard package and five with the 16m package – come pre-bushed. Not only is this convenient, but it means you’re not losing any valuable length by having to fit bushes yourself.
The wall strength is reassuring to say the least, which instils the sort of confidence you need when you’re being swivelled around on your box as you cling on to the end of 16 metres while attempting to drag a big ’un away from a tree-lined margin.
The Xitan reputation really does speak for itself, and when you think about what else is available at this price point you have to agree that for the money you’ll be getting a superb tool capable of any job you can throw its way.
