We look at two new additions to the AS Feeder range.
Mini Bullet Feeder – RRP: £1. 92
The water is still cold and being able to use a small feeder at distance is a massive edge. For a long time anglers have had to use small, adapted and cut-down rocket feeders, but no longer as AS feeders has developed a Mini Bullet Feeder.
Match Fishing gets its hands on the brilliant new Octbox D25 MK18.
The Octbox team really are the best at listening to what their customers want. The head of design, Rick Tyler, spends hours on the phone to his many customers and always looks for ways to incorporate what they are saying and to improve the highly popular seatbox range.
The D25 MK18 is the perfect example of listening to customer feedback and making improvements.
I have just got back from Croatia, where I was privileged to be part of the four-man England team that took part in the World Masters Championship on a lake near Sveti Martin, in Croatia.
We had four days of official practice on the venue and it was solid with small roach, bleak, carrassios and spiky catfish. We practised all sorts of methods, but it became clear that it was going to be fishing shallow at seven to eight metres, feeding balls of slop (three bags of Sensas surface to one bag of Gros Gardons) that contained joker, dead pinkies and finely chopped worms.
DAY ONE
Section D, Peg 6
I had practised this section, so I knew it was full of fish and was feeling quite confident of doing well.
Mark Downes tells you five of his groundbait secrets that have caught him loads of fish down the years.
It’s Magic
If you want a simple one-bag mix for commercial silvers then Sweet Fishmeal Magic is the mix for you. Magic is a perennial fish catcher and the addition of a fishmeal element only serves to enhance its reputation.
I have used this mix no end for silver fish on commercials but have also used it extensively on canals too.
Side trays are an essential item of tackle for the comfort and organisation of your session. And as match anglers we are using larger and larger side trays, especially when wading on natural waters.
One huge problem that anglers have been faced with is supporting the weight on these large side trays. Supporting legs are the common choice but there are situations when you cannot use them – deep margins or narrow commercial platforms being just two cases.

Match Fishing runs the rule over Browning’s latest elastic range – Xitan Microbore.
Hollow elastics have quite rightly been the most popular choice for pole anglers for a long, long time now. What once seemed like a ridiculous idea became the norm and anglers everywhere have bought into the hollow elastic concept. And why wouldn’t they? They are long-lasting, durable, user-friendly and they work!
Like all products, things evolve and new technologies and manufacturing processes crop up that can improve the performance of elastics.
