The Loughborough rod has built up a fearsome reputation for catching big weights of roach, skimmers perch and eels – with many claiming him to be the most in form river angler in the Country. With an equally enviable flowing water record is fellow Shakespeare ace James Robbins. Although James has taken some pretty impressive results on the pole, it is his running line skills that he is famed for – having won some of river fishing’s biggest trophies on the waggler, stickfloat and feeder.

I have been lucky enough to fish abroad in some very hot climates, and have seen first hand how other Country’s anglers deal with the heat.

And to have my first outing with my new Maver Darkside 3 pole” “Peg 21 on Serpent pool was to be my home for the day and I must say I really didn’t fancy the peg at all! As it stands, it is estimated that Andy has around 50lb, which puts him around 20lb in front of second placed Lee Kerry, who is admitting to 30lb.
