Top bait manufacturer Bait-Tech has been hard at work over the past year, coming up with a host of new and innovative bait launches for 2014. The picks of the bunch are the new Pro-Natural Dark Groundbait, Krill Pellets, Micro Pop-Ups and a range of new liquid flavours.
As always, here at Match Fishing we will be giving the new products a closer look over the next few issues. Plus, we have it on good authority that the latest DVD from Bait-Tech is almost ready for launch.
Ireland’s World Pairs Angling Championship to run in September 2014
Ireland's Lakeland & Inland Waterways World Pairs Angling Championship is returning in 2014. The event will take place from September 8th to 12th, 2014, in many superb wild coarse fishing venues in Ireland’s Lakelands region, with many top-class international anglers chasing the prestigious ‘World Pairs Champions’ title. Lakelands & Inland Waterways' partners – Waterways Ireland and Fáilte Ireland – are delightedwith the interest the World Pairs has generated and, in conjunction with the host counties of Leitrim, Fermanagh and Cavan, have sponsored the prize fund with a guaranteed €20,000, with more to come depending on entries. Éanna Rowe, of Lakeland & Inland Waterways, confirmed: "The Lakeland & Inland Waterways World Pairs has clearly highlighted to many international anglers that wild coarse fishing is hugely exciting, challenging and widely available in Ireland's Lakelands.

New E-Booking system for UK's biggest river festival.
The UK's biggest river fishing event - the Evesham Festival has introduced a new online booking system, allowing anglers to reserve tickets for this years qualifying matches.
In a change from previous form, this years bloodworm qualifiers are spaced out - with one weekend in July and another in August. There will also be two qualifying matches for the Evesham Team Championship this year, with one team qualifying from each.
Matrix launch FREE underwater DVD!
Tackle giants Matrix have been hard at work over the past few months putting together their new underwater DVD – Underwater Evolution.
The new DVD goes beneath the surface to take a close look at what really happens with your feeder rigs. The footage has been put together by expert diver and Match Fishing regular Rob Hughes.
With the help of brand manager Ricky Teale and former Maver Match This champion Les Thompson, Underwater Evolution dispels a few myths and rumours about what actually goes on.

Bag ‘em team lifts the trophy after 10 hard-fought rounds!
The popular Tunnel Barn Farm Winter League reached its climax this weekend and it was the Bag ‘em team that took the title in dominating fashion! The team, comprising Paul Yates, Des Shipp, Craig Elkin and Pete Rice, scored an astonishing 75 points out of a possible 76 in the final round to lift the trophy. The league was one of the closest in years as several teams were in with a shout come the final round. Team captain Paul Yates had this to say about the win: “We have been fishing this league for a number of years now and although we have come close to winning we have never quite managed it. Luckily this year we have had the draws and performances to win the league.
Winter is the time that many of the country's fisheries see any maintenance work carried out in readiness for the busy warmer months ahead, and is an important period for all fishery owners. Steve Long and Paul Greenwood are two such people, who have invested heavily in the upkeep of well-known venue Viaduct Fishery. Bait-Tech's Andy Neal paid the venue a visit and caught up with venue owner Steve Long.
“With some of the pegs showing wear from the previous busy year’s trade, now is the time for us to get in and replace them,” commented Steve.
World Pairs champions join forces with Bait-Tech! Bait-Tech confirms its plans to continue on its upward trend of expansion as it turns its attention to Ireland.
Two new signings for the 2014 season are the popular Irish duo of Cathal Hughes and Philip Jackson. These two anglers have long been considered to be some of the very best matchmen in Ireland, and during 2013 these thoughts were confirmed as they won their second world pairs event in as many years. Together with world individual medals and countless other festival and team wins, the pair rightly get the respect they deserve.
Here is the entry form for the eagerly anticipated 2014 Garbolino Club Angler of the Year event. You can apply via the magazine, but if you don't have a copy you can use this form, click here to download. Simply print it out and send in the completed slip, along with a cheque for £20, to the given address – simple. There are three exciting changes to this year’s event, the first of which sees each club able to nominate TWO anglers to fish a qualifying round rather than just one! Not only will this help to grow the event further, but will allow two anglers from each club to fly the flag in the most prestigious event in the match fishing club calendar.
