This was the first round of 10 matches to be held over the year and the competitors were met with cold and wet conditions and a clear canal. This was reflected in the results with end pegs taking all the places.

Mike Poolman (HQLF) was the best on the day with a 3.820kg mixed bag taken on maggot and caster over groundbait on the end peg of 'A' section and the match length. Second was Eddy Edwards (Nomads) from the end peg on 'C' section, who managed 3.490kg helped along by 3 better skimmers again on red maggot over ground bait. John Dewberry (Nomads, Browning Andover MG) managed to take third from next to the swing bridge with 3.140kg of caster Roach and Si Irwin (Tidworth Gunners) managed 2.41kg from the end of 'B' section on a variety of tactics.

Top team on the day was Nomads with 8 points with HQLF and the Tidworth Gunners tying on 11 points for 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.
