Report:
18 anglers turned out for the Edenderry two day festival on Saturday and Sunday on the grand canal Edenderry. Saturdays match was held on the Toberdaly venue and with the weather it was more like a winter league venue than a mid July one.The conditions meant the fishing was always going to be hard, and Tommy Burke from peg 11, fishing tight across at 14.5m rotating between pinkie and punch put 5lb on the scales to take the section on day 1 with a couple of small hybrids and roach, second was Alan Larkin with 3-12 from peg 1, and joint thirds were Danny Murphy and Brendan Collins with 3-04. A lot of anglers had pike trouble throughout the match and small roach made up most bags. So with no one running away with the match it was all to play for on day two, the venue for day two was Julian's match stretch off Morrissey's. The weather was a bit kinder with occasional downpours, and the fishing was just as hard as day one with the canal out! of sorts and plenty of boat traffic thrown in too. Paul Kelly on the end peg 18 topped the section with 6-14 of roach and hybrids, Julian Kendrick peg 16 filled the runner up slot with 4-04 of roach, and joint thirds were Colin Oliver peg 11 and Harold Pattison peg 1 with 4-03. Having done 3lb the first day Paul Kelly Edenderry CAC took the honors over the two days with 9-14, Tommy Burke Edenderry CAC was the runner up with 8-13, and third overall was Pat Bartley Team BSI with 6-07.
