Ilminster AA members contested the first fixture of the Royal Oak sponsored Winter League on the River Isle on Sunday. The river was painfully low and clear but weights were much better than expected.
Jamie Rich drew peg 14 and caught chub, dace and perch for a winning 12lb 2oz on the pole and caster. Martin Heard was second and included a good-sized chub in his 8lb catch from peg 85 at Ashford. Joint third were Robin Cox and Neil Dring who both had 6lb 8oz from Isle Brewers. Neil had a good chub plus roach and Rob had mainly redfins in his net.

Next week is the first V.E.S. match and the draw is at the Royal Oak between 8:30 and 9:00.
