Report: Dave Walton wins the John Carr Memorial Trophy - Just twelve anglers fished the John Carr memorial at the Swans Nest stretch of the canal on Sunday.
After the recent days of sunshine the weed had inevitably become a problem and despite some anglers raking their swims before the match plenty of bonus fish were lost.
Winner on the day taking home £60 for his catch of three tench and some eels was Dave Walton with 5k 360g. He fished the pole at 11 meters with red maggot over groundbait and caster, Dave also lost two tench to the weed. Runner up was Eddie McMahon, close behind with 5k 070g he landed two large bream and lost one to the weed to take the £40 prize for second.
Finishing the prize places was Roly Palmer with one Bream for 2k 720g he also lost one to the weed but took home £20 for his catch. Despite the weed problems the fishing should offer good sport for a pleasure session on the pole or feeder with plenty of Tench and! Bream in the area.
