Teal Attends Lymm AC match.
Sunday 15th September saw round four of the Lymm AC Juniors Autumn Series taking place on New Pool. The weather forecast was pretty grim with torrential rain and gale-force winds. This week it was bread week and all the competitors were restricted to using bread plus one other hook bait. Many settled for sweetcorn which seemed to bring out the carp.

First to tempt a carp was Sarah Taylor who on very light elastic managed to steer a carp into her landing net, after a twenty minute batter both Sarah, the fish and dad Paul were exhausted! Alex Warham was next to land a carp but only after losing one minutes before at the net. One person sticking to the bread bait for this week was Jack Ross who was feeding small pots of liquidized bread and fishing small bread discs called punch over the top, although he was getting lots of bites this was not resulting in fish. Ricky Teale of Matrix Tackle attended the session to meet the youngsters and offer some expert coaching, working through their tackle and refining their approach although it proved tricky getting the fish to switch onto the feed.

Further round the lake newcomer David Smith was fishing at 13m towards the island in a howling wind to tempt two carp on sweetcorn. It was a lucky turn of fate that saw his main rig tangle and went over toward the island with a margin rig which almost instantly resulted in the two biggest fish of his catch. Kyle Hickman was pegged next to David and was also lucky to hook and land a carp on sweetcorn, this time Kyle's approach was set out for the bigger residents of the lake but unfortunately only one fish decided to take his bait.

Callum McCormack was on peg one and catching lots of small roach when his swim erupted after hooking a carp, only to lose it seconds later after the cunning fish found a snag to hide behind.

The match was won in the end by David Smith with two carp for 8lb 13oz, followed by Sarah Taylor with 7lb 11oz in Second and Elliott Mavers in third with 5lb 13oz.
