Raf Eawl Match 2
Results from the latest RAF EA Winter League match.
Old Nene March (bypass section)
16 Pegs
November 2
A river clear and lacking flow, combined with a cold and at times strong wind blowing up the river, resulted in lower than expected weights for this usually prolific stretch. But it did result in a tight and competitive frame.
Once again the draw bag was kind to Graham Welton as he drew upstream end peg 1, the first peg above the Marina mouth. Graham displayed a master class, utilising every method and every area of his swim. Switching between the long and short pole on bread/ ground bait and pinkie/ worm and caster and the waggler across saw him put together a match wining total of 11lb 11oz - benefitting from a late bonus skimmer pushing 2lb from his worm line.
Roy Whincup alternated a worm and caster and groundbait and Pinkie line from peg 6 to put together a 10lb 2oz net of bits to take the runners-up slot.
Third place saw an old face returning to the EAWL ranks, Spike Milligan, fishing his favoured worm and caster, seeing him land two Tench backed up with a mixed net of silvers and perch to take 9lb 3oz to the scales.
