Drennan’s Steve Hemmingray recorded one of the best roach weights of the year on Sunday’s qualifier, weighing 16-1-8 of redfins from peg six. Steve caught quality roach fishing bloodworm over a bed of groundbait and joker. Topping up regularly with golf ball sized balls of feed proved key to Steve’s success, with all of his fish falling to a light 0.6g rig.

In second place was Tredegar AC’s Andrew Murphy. Andrew also caught quality roach over a bed of groundbait, bloodworm and joker, weighing in with 10-6-0. It was a similar story for third placed Sean Ashby, with groundbait, bloodworm also holding the key to his 8-3-0 net.
