Scac Winterleague Round 3

SCAC Winterleague Round 3 results

Location of match: Sydney, Australia
Date of match: 5/8/12
Number of pegs/anglers: 16

Report:
The third and final round of the NSW SCAC winter league saw 15 anglers turn up on Caddis Creek in Sydney. Despite some cold clear nights all week and a light frost the night before the match, the consistent venue still produced plenty of bites for most with small carp and goldfish making up most of the weights. It was a close match again with only a few hundred grams separating the top 3.

After a slow first hour and a half on the feeder a switch to the pole at 14.5 m had Ivan Mitchell picking up goldfish regularly for the remainder of the match on corn or punched bread. He went on to win today’s final round with just over 13 kg and jumped up to 2nd overall in this year’s Winter league results.

Dara Finnegan maintained his recent good run of results with a 2nd place finish. Fishing chopped worm over micro pellets on the pole at 11 and 14.5m he caught mostly carp and one gold fish to weigh just less than 13 kg. He has now completed the hat trick this year with adding the NSWSCAC winter league overall winner’s trophy to the NSW summer league and Knock out competition trophies he won earlier in the season.

Andrew Nearby was third today with just over 12 kg.

August 18th /19th sees the NSWCARC $1000 winner take all final back on this venue and September is the start of the first matches of the summer leagues so hopefully it will have warmed up by then and we will be back fishing in shorts and flip flops here soon .
