Sensas Chl
Round 4 of the Sensas Commercial House League on the Bristol Avon.
With bright sun and clear water the river fished very up and down. Many people only had ounces but there were still ten double figure weights.
Tim Ford drew on the style at Jack Whites, which often produces weights of dace up to 20lb. He started on the stick float and maggot to try to catch these dace but only had 4 bites in the first two hours, which were all from barbel. He lost the first two but got the next two out at 6lb 2oz and 5lb 4oz. He didn’t have another bite until the last hour and a half when he decided to feed hemp and castor heavily to try to get some more barbel. This produced the dace he was after in the first place and he caught nearly 10lb of them for a winning weight of 21lb 4oz.
Second in the match was Nathaniel Johnson who was also fishing at Jack Whites, just above the cattle drink. He started well taking five chub in 15 minutes on the crowquill. Only in the last hour did he get any more when he caught another four chub. He had only one roach to go with the chub for a total weight of 19lb 11oz.
Third was Mark Brennan who was at the Crane on the last peg in the 1st field. He balled in groundbait containing castors and joker on the pole line and caught all roach except a huge perch of 2lb 14oz. He weighed in 16lb 6oz.
The league leaders Preston Innovations Thatchers B and BTM Services both extended their leads in the two divisions by winning on the day.
