Shakespeare Veterans Championship

Evesham Town & Ferry Waters, 77 Fished.
A turnout of 77 veterans graced the field in this year’s Shakespeare Veterans Championship. It was Ibstock rod Keith Kite, who banked the £500 winners cheque, and an invite for the prestigious Shakespeare Championship Final, with an 18-14-0 net from peg 8.

Keith caught two barbel, feeding Sonubaits Spicy Sausage pellets, with an 8mm version of the same on the hook. He cast two thirds of the way across the river with a small feeder, landing the biggest of his two fish with just ten minutes of the match to go.

In second place was Tony Atkins. Drawn on peg 26, Tony fished maggot feeder to land three chub and a handful of perch for a 8-0-8 total. Tony cast his feeder tight up a far bank boat, with his best fish nudging 3lb.
Third place was taken by local rod, Terry Pitcher. Again, chub were the dominant species in his 7-9-0 haul. For Terry, a flat float approach fished with chopped worm and caster proved the key method, with him also banking three good chub.
