Vince Takes The Win

MAS rod banks four bream for Evesham glory.
MAS rod Vince Callaghan took top spot in the first Evesham Championship qualifying match of the season, after drawing the fancied end Peg 1 at the top of the Crown Meadow. Vince of Windsor, Berkshire, adopted a positive approach throwing in 10 balls of groundbait on his pole line and fishing worms and maggots over the top.

He tempted four good bream, plus a host of smaller fish for a 17-14-0 total.

In second place was Drennan ace, Dan Varney. Dan drew Peg 36 below the mouth of the River Isbourne, and caught several chub, chublets and perch on a light running rig fished on the long pole, with some fish also falling to chopped worm fished on a short pole line.

In third place was another Drennan angler, England International, Steve Hemingray. Steve drew Peg 71 at Hampton Ferry, and landed 10 eels on pole-fished maggot.
