Whiskers Seal The Win

Wychavon Championship Qualifier, Evesham Town & Ferry Waters, 69 fished.
Two small barbel caught on maggot-feeder tactics were enough to give Tony Woodhouse victory in Sunday’s Wychavon Championship qualifier. Fishing from Peg 17, Tony took the first of his fish around halfway through the match, with his second following in the dying stages of the competition. Tony cast around halfway across the river, fishing double bronze maggot on the hook.

Ever consistent Pershore rod Ian Shepherd was second, with a 9-4-0 net from Peg 85. Remarkably, Ian’s net was made up of some quality roach, and a 5lb bream – taken on hempseed! Ian caught the brute just as his rig was settling, from the newly created Peg 85.

Dino Floats man Vince Callaghan took third place from Peg 77. Vince caught a good barbel from Peg 77 on groundbait-feeder tactics.
Aside from the framing weights, the competition was by and large tough, with just 2lb enough to qualify in the middle 33-peg section of the match – proving just how moody a mistress the mighty River Avon can be!
