Whisker's Win At Evesham

Wychavon Championship Qualifier, 18/08/2013.
With bloodworm banned for the last of the official 2013 festival qualifiers, the fishing was tough for many. Gloucester Angling Centre’s Tony Davis put in a star performance from unfancied peg 31, to win the day with a 7-12-0 net. This was made up of a 6-8-0 barbel, and several smaller roach taken on hempseed. Tony caught his barbel fishing a large halibut pellet cast two thirds of the way across the river.

Simon Tucker finished in second place from peg 24. Simon caught a nice net of perch and eels on maggot feeder tactics, to weigh 7-8-0 and earn himself a place in the Wychavon Championship Final.

Ian Bullock grabbed third spot, with a 6-2-0 net of perch from peg two. Ian caught chunky fish for the duration of the match on stick float tactics.

Other than the Veterans Championship that is taking place on Wednesday, the match length is now closed to competitors until the £6,000 Shakespeare Final which takes place next Saturday, 24th August.

With good weather predicted, and the festival ground extended with several exciting new additions, this years event is expected to be one of the best ever. For more information, log on to: www.eveshamfestival.com
