Winter Wins On Wye

Walsall rod scoops £1,000 festival victory.
Ian Winter sounded a warning to the rest of the competitors in next weekend's RiverFest 2013 final by taking top spot in this years three day festival with a brilliant 4 point total.

The DH Angling grouped angler was delighted with the victory which scooped him over £1,000 in cash plus tackle prizes donated by festival sponsor Shakespeare.

"I've had a great three days," a delighted Ian said after the presentation. "I've wanted to win this title ever since the first festival back in 2006 and to win it against such strong opposition is fantastic.

"It's been a tough week for most with the high water but I've had some decent draws which thankfully I made the most of.

"On the first day I drew peg 43 and managed to land just over 10lb on a 4g flat float. Yesterday I was on peg 65 and although the river level was over 12ft I landed just under 5lb of bleak. Today was the icing on the cake catching some quality roach and perch on a 6g flat float from peg 77.

"I'm looking forward to the RiverFest final and hopefully it will be a fantastic two day final. The weather forecast doesn't look too bad so the level and colour could be absolutely spot on next week. If it is, there will be some great catches I am sure. Hopefully, I can add another trophy to my collection next week!"
