Joe Carass explains why he just keeps going back to the successful Swim Stim range from Dynamite Baits! I have spoken before about being a huge fan of Green Swim Stim. It’s a bait I have used for as long as I can remember and it’s a bait I will continue to keep using. I just wanted to talk about other groundbaits in the range that I also use, and other tweaks that I have since added to my Swim Stim selection. First up is a bream mix that I have used over the past two years that really has served me well, and that is a 50/50 blend of Green and Natural.
Growing up in and around the Norfolk broads, Octbox chief Rick Tyler thought he knew how to tackle rivers. That was until he found himself faced with the mighty River Ijssel…
The River Ijssel here in North Holland has to be one of my favourite river venues, and in truth it is unlike anywhere that you can really tackle on UK soil. It is perhaps best described as a much bigger version of the River Trent or River Yare, a massively powerful river with big shoals of hard-fighting fish.
The stretches that we fish are around the city of Zwolle, and here you regularly see ocean-going barges coming up and down the river, creating vast swills and waves as they past.
There have been few bait additives that have had such an impact as krill has over the past few years. That being said, the krill boom seems to have subsided a little but it is still a brilliant ingredient and fish absolutely love the stuff.
The GO2 Krill Super Blend is Spotted Fin’s vision of what a Krill mix should be like. As we have mentioned many times, Spotted Fin is renowned for using high-quality ingredients and the Krill Super blend is no different.
£799 for a back up pole? Or is there more to it than that? We check out the Browning Sphere Zero-G Power Partner!
For me, having used it numerous times, the Browning Sphere Zero-G is the most impressive pole on the market. I don’t say that lightly as there are so many incredible poles out there. But The Sphere is just unbelievable and for me set a new benchmark in terms of performance.
If there was one slight asterisk surrounding the Sphere, and it’s completely unfounded by the way, is its strength.
Frenzee’s Phil Canning gives you the lowdown on his meat fishing tactics that are a sure-fire winner on summer commercials.
Meat Storage
The first thing we need to look at is the bait itself and how to store it to keep it nice and fresh throughout the session. In my opinion fresh meat is the only choice and I am convinced it catches you more fish. The texture is better with freshly opened meat than meat that has been in water for a while, and it smells much nicer too.
Famed for its range of technical and highly advanced carp groundbaits, Japanese bait giant Marukyu is bringing its immense bait knowledge to silver-fish fishing.
The natural range contains several mixes, each with a slant toward a specific species or approach.
River and Big River are, as the name suggests, designed for river work. The standard River has good binding properties to make it ideal for carrying particles to the riverbed before breaking down smoothly.
