World Champs glory sees England youth top world rankings. England’s youth teams are quite literally on top of the world as they travel back from France, as this weekend’s fantastic World Championship performance has seen them rise to the top of the World rankings. The table – which is worked out on medal count over a five-year period, is used to determine which teams are regarded as the best in the world – and we now top the chart at both junior and senior levels. England’s international events co-ordinator, Dick Clegg, was the first to congratulate the teams and their management.

England Juniors lead World Youth Championship. The England under-18 team have taken a commanding position on the first day of the Junior World Championship, taking three section wins and a second. As it stands, they are nine points ahead of second-placed France, with one day of the competition still to go. Section winners include Sam Hughes, Bradley Gibbons and Joe Kent, with Matt Barnett second in his section – finishing just a few grams short of victory.

Poles – there are literally hundreds to choose from! Browning seems to be pulling no punches with its fantastic Xitan range, though. Alex Bones tests the £1,699 Z8 Power. When I took Browning’s flagship Z12 out for a spin last year I was exceptionally impressed. Not only was the pole’s performance outstanding, the spares package and entire concept was faultless.

One nice touch is the plastic riddle that sits neatly inside the larger bowl. The whole system can be carried inside the large bowl and transported to the peg with ease.

This is a four-piece 4m handle that is supplied with two threads, meaning it can be used at several lengths.
