Turner 400

Location of match: Upper Thames Radcot Clanfield Rushey

Date of match: 02/09/2012
Number of pegs/anglers: 104

Report:
26 Teams of 4 fished the Upper Thames between Radcot and Rushey.
With 3 days of heavy rain the week before the match the river was carrying extra water this part of the Thames never seems to fish well in these conditions certainly with so few big fish showing these days. This match has a random draw for each section so when Drennan Red drew three end pegs they were going to be hard to beat and they did well only dropping 13 points for an easy win on 91 points and £600.00 first prize. 2nd spot and £480.00 went to Daiwa Gordon League Gold on 76 points a tie for 3rd and £400.00 was Fox Match Issis and Turners Red both on 73 points but Issis won on weight.

Individually Fox Match Issis Johnny Hasler continued his fine form with 12.9.0 of small fish all caught at 3m to hand from Rushey permanent peg 10 nick named the ‘armchair peg’ (enough said).
2nd man Gary Etheridge Garbolino BMV fishing Radcot down had 11.0.0 again all small fish. Gary started on maggot but a switch to hemp and tares saw him up his catch rate.
3rd Steve Townsend Drennan Blue had 10.11.8 Steve caught a single Bream and backed it up with 7.0.0 of roach on the pole Steve was Radcot up
4th Neil Richards Daiwa Gordon League was also Radcot up he caught 9.11.0 of roach at 8m.
5th James Carty Devizes Red 8.12.0
6th Richard Chave Garbolino BMV 8.7.0

The Upper Thames Champs on September 16th teams are to be allowed to place anglers if they so wish so as to avoid transport problems of course many teams will choose to draw sections amongst themselves. Let’s hope to some good weather leading up to this match as I’m sure that will switch on the many small fish in the river
