Feeder fishing for carp is one of the most popular approaches these days, so when a clever new feeder turned up at Match Fishing HQ, Joe Carass couldn’t wait to give it the once-over. Since the inception of commercial fisheries there has been one man who has arguably come up with more fish-catching devices than any other… Andy Findlay!Andy has revolutionised feeder fishing and his previous three creations – the flat Method feeder, pellet feeder and pellet cone – are responsible for taking some huge weights of carp every year. But, Fin being Fin, he couldn’t stop there, hence his latest creation: the banjo feeder. The banjo came about a couple of years ago when many of the fishery pellets were of a spongy consistency.

Report from the Sunderland FAC winter league Round 3 match at Silksworth Lake, Sunderland. Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 30/10/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12Ian Foster went from zero to hero, putting last weeks blank firmly behind him to win the match and erase the bad memories. Fishing groundbait feeder at 30 metres towards the post he caught roach ranging from a half ounce to 12 ounces before switching to the waggler to catch more of the same plus small perch, all fish taken on maggot. Andy McNeil using the same tactics kept up his good form coming second from the next peg to Ian, he also had the same fish but of a smaller stamp, plus a lucky carp of 7lb (counts as 1lb in Winter series rules).

Report from the Sunderland FAC winter league Round 4 match at Silksworth Lake, Sunderland. Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 06/11/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12The first frost of the year arrived but never put the fish off the feed, all anglers were pegged around the top island using both banks. Ian Foster won for the second week running, this time pegged on the opposite bank and with an island chuck. Using maggot as hookbait and starting on the groundbait feeder he caught a few small roach and gudgeon before switching to the waggler.

Report from the Sunderland FAC winter league Round 5 match at Silksworth Lake, Sunderland. Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 13/11/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12On a overcast grey day it was Roy who won comfortably with 5 bream and a few roach. Using groundbait feeder with pinkie or maggot he caught his first after 10 mins which prompted him to stay on the feeder, which proved worthwhile. Social networking and new media has been high on my to do list this month with us trying to find new ways of keeping in touch with our readers. We strive to produce the best mag that we can but without feedback we can only guess as to what our readers like in terms of features. Facebook is perhaps the biggest and best way of being in touch with our readers but Twitter is what’s got me most excited!I’ve never wanted to get involved with Twitter or Facebook on a personal level as I quite like my privacy, however I have recently set a Twitter account up to give my followers regular updates on what is going on at Match Fishing HQ. And what I have found is fantastic! Lots of anglers have bought into using Twitter and give regular updates on their fishing Steve Ringer is on there as well as lots of other top name anglers.

A round-up of the latest AT Upper Thames winter league practice match. . . Kennet and Avon Canal at Great Bedwyn20/11/11 | Number of pegs: 45Due to a broken lock at Crofton there have been no boat movements on the Kennet and Avon Canal around Great Bedwyn and consequently the Canal was still and clear, which put the normally prolific roach off the feed.
