Spion Kop winter league week 6 Matchday results It was a very hard day for all with the weather affecting the fishing from the off, ice on most pegs but with a little persuation it moved on. Marcus Leek making the most of a good draw from peg 26 catching skimmers on maggots to get the best weight of the day. 2nd went to Jim Elder using wag and mag tactics to catch 8lb 140z of silvers and 3rd was Andy Stockdale with 5lb 10oz of bits.

Winner on the day was Alcester Sports rod Nick Cowling. Nick caught four bream on flat-float tactics, feeding chopped worms and casters, and fishing a small piece of worm on the hook. Nick fished 13 metres from the bank, and took all four of his fish in the second hour of the match – with the anglers either side of him also managing a bream each.

Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 16/10/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12Robbie Schindler won the match fishing pinkie on the pole at 10 metres and on the waggler feeding next to nothing. He ended his match with approximately 70 small roach and perch. Second placed Bob Nash had a net of roach and perch again on either feeder, pole or waggler, but using maggot.

Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 23/10/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12Andy McNeil grabbed victory fishing to the small island on groundbait feeder with squatt, catching small silvers apart from a good roach of a pound. In second place was Bobby Nash with small roach and perch fishing to the island from the other bank, all caught on maggot also with groundbait feeder. In the money again was Robbie Schindler with third place, again small roach and perch made up his weight fishing the pole at 10 metres with squatt over groundbait.

Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 11/12/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 5Another hard day probably due to the influx of rain water and salt from the roads and the changeable weather. Only Ian managed to get two bites and two fish on the waggler using maggot fishing to the island. A roach and a perch were the obliging culprits.

Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 30/10/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12Ian Foster went from zero to hero, putting last weeks blank firmly behind him to win the match and erase the bad memories. Fishing groundbait feeder at 30 metres towards the post he caught roach ranging from a half ounce to 12 ounces before switching to the waggler to catch more of the same plus small perch, all fish taken on maggot. Andy McNeil using the same tactics kept up his good form coming second from the next peg to Ian, he also had the same fish but of a smaller stamp, plus a lucky carp of 7lb (counts as 1lb in Winter series rules).

Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 06/11/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12The first frost of the year arrived but never put the fish off the feed, all anglers were pegged around the top island using both banks. Ian Foster won for the second week running, this time pegged on the opposite bank and with an island chuck. Using maggot as hookbait and starting on the groundbait feeder he caught a few small roach and gudgeon before switching to the waggler.

Silksworth Lake, Sunderland | 13/11/2011 | Number of pegs/anglers: 12On a overcast grey day it was Roy who won comfortably with 5 bream and a few roach. Using groundbait feeder with pinkie or maggot he caught his first after 10 mins which prompted him to stay on the feeder, which proved worthwhile. Second was Ian,starting on the feeder then moving to the waggler he was biteless after 90 minutes.

South West Team of Four final at Viaduct.
The end of the South West Teams of Four League held at Somerset's Viaduct Fishery saw the Bristol Motor Services team put in a great performance to finish 8points clear of the rest of the field. Individually it was Dynamite Baits rod Alan Oram who took glory, after bagging over 180lb of carp on the straight lead from Cary's peg 96. Weights on this match were kept down due to the very strong wind making fishing long poles impossible for all but a few. However most got plenty of bits even so.
Swan Hotel Open, Radcot and Clanfield | 11th September 2011 | Number of anglers: 38Yet again no Chub or Bream showed themselves with only a trio of Tench boosting the weights of the 1st and 2nd anglers. Winner on the day was Time Kaye pegged at Radcot downstream.
Match 6 and final of the South West Winter League
Kennet and Avon Canal, Darlington to Bathampton50 pegsThe winner on the day was Kevin Boltz of Amalgamated Fisheries. Kevin drew by the bridge at Meadow Farm where he caught skimmers and roach at 4meters on bread to land 5lb of fish in the first hour. He then fished tight over on worm, castor, or pinkie for a couple more skimmers and the rest of his bag of fish. Runner up on the day was Andy Britt of Maver Bathampton.
The upper Thames Champs attracted 19 teams of six. Conditions on the day were good as regards the wind of recent matches but still there was little flow however plenty of small fish were caught.
